WATCH OUT FOR TABU

Tabu is flying high with her name being cropped up in Oscar buzz. She is in the race for the prestigious Academy Awards in the Best Supporting Actress category for Mira Nair’s much acclaimed movie, The Namesake . She might be making waves internationally but Tabu still has her feet firmly on the ground. The Hyderabadi abhinetri has not forgotten her homeland and the industry that gave her her first break (Much before she got popularity in Bollywood, Tabu had acted in Coolie No.1 opposite Venkatesh that brought her fame).

The Cheeni Kum star has her hands full now in Telugu. More offers are pouring in. Tabu has just signed another big film, Pandurangadu , opposite Nandamuri Balakrishna. The film, being directed by veteran director K Raghavendra Rao, is a devotional based on the story of Pundareeka, a great devotee of Lord Vishnu.
She plays the character of Kalavathi, a prostitute with whom the lead actor falls in love. It is a tough and challenging role and Tabu is said to have immediately accepted the role when Raghavendra Rao approached her. It offers her to portray a gamut of emotions.

On other hand, Tabu is playing lead heroine in offbeat filmmaker Chandra Siddartha’s Idhee Sangathi – a political satire. This is her chance to do comedy. She also has a very glam look in the movie.

There is also an offer from her good friend and Tollywood superstar Nagarjuna. She might be doing a special role in his next. Here’s to a great actor!
